Driftwood St Lucia offers two distinctive places to stay in the fishing village of Laborie on St Lucia’s south-west coast.
The properties were built in the mid-2010s by Nick’s father Tony, working closely with skilled local builders and artisans. Many of the furnishings were made by hand on the island, and the houses were constructed using natural materials that reflect the character of the Caribbean landscape.
Both properties are designed around the easy indoor–outdoor way of living that defines everyday life in the Caribbean. Wide verandas, open spaces and garden surroundings make it easy to spend time outside, while thoughtful touches ensure a comfortable stay — including four-poster beds with mosquito nets, air-conditioning for sleeping, and private plunge pools for cooling off during the day.
Driftwood Cottage and Driftwood Treehouse sit just across a quiet road from Laborie beach and within easy walking distance of the village’s cafés, bakeries and restaurants.
While each property offers a slightly different style of stay, both share the same spirit: relaxed, comfortable spaces where guests can slow down and enjoy the rhythms of village life by the sea.

Your hosts
Nick and Ben will be based in Laborie from 2026 and look after Driftwood together.
Driftwood has been lovingly created and run by Tony and Jan over the past decade, earning its reputation as a warm and welcoming place to stay. Nick and Ben are proud to continue what they’ve built and carry it forward into its next chapter.
Tony and Jan live just opposite and remain very much part of the Driftwood story. Alongside caring for their much-loved rescue dogs and pursuing their own creative and personal projects, they continue to run Mango Splash— a separate rental at their home — offering a great option for friends or family travelling together who would like to stay close by.
Nick divides his time between St Lucia and London, where he works as a guide and researcher exploring the social history of the city. Together, Nick and Ben are always happy to share recommendations to help guests discover the best of Laborie and the wider island.
